Treasurer’s Report: Tom Foote reported income for the month $126.61; expenses $4,737.65; committed funds $30,061.65. Tom will be out of the country at the next meeting, including the latter half of November.
Minutes of September meeting: Tom Foote moved to approve, Jill seconded, 1 abstain, rest in favor.
Reimbursement Form: Dave Thomas discussed the form to indicate committee allocation, amount spent to date, current request and amount spent through current request. Dan suggested an Excel spreadsheet on the web for committee budgets.
Google Group/Communication: Dave Thomas said the board can go to the SWIMBA website and log in, go to Forums, then Board Forum and subscribe. He would like all board members to go in and let him know they have signed in. He will leave the Google group active for 6 weeks.
Meeting Location: Dave Thomas talked to the Foothills Learning Center-they are considering our request. He thinks it is the best venue.
Velopark Service Project: Dave Thomas said the project was very successful. He thanked REI for sponsoring it.
Trail Committee: Dan is working on a five year program for trails goals. He will give his input to Mike Edwards. Two pairs of chaps, one Kombi kit and two tune ups are in line for expenditures. The BOB trailer was already purchased.
Tom Foote wants someone to maintain a tool inventory. Dan Meeker volunteered to take responsibility in conjunction with Mike Edwards and Chris Cook.
Marketing Committee: Jill said Michael Dorey needs to be reimbursed for the table, chairs and event kit. Tom Foote has paid him $147. Jill needs an itemization of what the committee has spent, and a total.
Jill asked for a budget of $4,615 in addition to the $4,000 that was approved through September previously. She outlined a plan to give t-shirts to people working on trails. Kristi moved to approve $8,615 for the marketing budget, to include the $4,000 previously approved, and Gary seconded. The budget passed unanimously.
Dave Thomas will try to get the committee budgets and spread sheets on the SWIMBA website for the Board.
Butterfly Traverse Trail: Dave Thomas said Dave Gordon wants a trail from the top of Sidewinder South to Trail 5. Dave Gordon wants to contract the 1 ¼ miles of single track as a spring project, he estimates it will cost $7,500-$8,500. The BLM needs to do an EA. Dan suggested an REI project or for Al and Mike to write a grant. He agrees a mid mountain lateral is needed. It needs to be completed in about a week’s time. SWIMBA wants a sign with its name on it. Tom Foote suggested asking the City to match with $4,000 from their Tour de Fat income of $4,025.90. Dan wants to commit, but try to fund it with other options such as grants or REI day. Jill moved spending up to $8,500 with stipulation that Dave Thomas suggest to Dave Gordon that Parks & Rec allocate their Tour de Fat funds, and explore other options to pay for the project including grants or self construction. Kristi seconded. Colby indicated Sylvia at REI would need to be contacted immediately and that she will give her a heads up. Dan said we need to get to work on finding financing sources. A contest to name the trail was suggested, Dave will talk to Dave Gordon.
Membership Committee: Terry Floyd is chairman, Gary Dinoso, Mark Hodges, Colby, Jill, Brett Magnuson and Carrie Nicholson are members. A Saturday group ride is scheduled for 9::30 a.m. A BBQ will be held by the softball fields. Ride will include beginning, intermediate and advanced, Terry expects about 20-30 people.
Epilepsy Foundation Ride: Tom Foote noted an October 25 ride with Kristin Armstrong for the Epilepsy Foundation of Idaho. Adults $25, kids $15.
Halloween Party: Terry Floyd is hosting a party at his house on October 25, 2008.
