IMBA to Host 'Mountain Biking Hub' at Outdoor Retailer Summer Market IMBA will host a new addition, the Mountain Biking Hub, in the Endurance Zone at Outdoor Retailer Summer Market, to be held at the Salt Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake City, Utah, on Aug. 3-6. IMBA and U.S. Forest Service to Host Lake Tahoe Trail Conference in October This fall (Oct. 1-3), IMBA and the U.S. Forest Service will host the Tahoe Trails Conference at South Lake Tahoe's Montbleu Resort and Casino. The event, which is open to all members of the mountain bike community, will create a valuable opportunity for collaboration between riders, land managers and the bike industry. The goal is to ensure the future of sustainable and enjoyable trails in the Lake Tahoe Basin, and beyond. IMBA Seeks Field Programs Coordinator IMBA is looking for a fulltime professional to coordinate IMBA's field programs, specifically the Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew and National Mountain Bike Patrol program. The successful candidate will have excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills. IMBA Executive Director Coauthors Denver Post Op-Ed on Colorado Roadless Legislation IMBA Executive Director Mike Van Abel recently coauthored an opinion piece on Colorado's pending roadless legislation. Writing for the Denver Post, Van Abel joined with Brady Robinsion, executive director of the Access Fund. Both IMBA and the Access Fund are founding members of the Outdoor Alliance. Mountain Biker Participation Needed for America's Great Outdoors Listening Sessions The White House Initiative on America's Great Outdoors, or AGO, is coming to a town near you, with public listening sessions slated for July and August. The topics include land conservation, outdoor recreation and public health -- topics that mountain bikers care about deeply. These sessions pose a great opportunity for mountain bikers to help shape national policies on recreation and conservation. Pearl Izumi Hosts Colorado Rep. Jared Polis and Front Range Bicycle Leaders Bicycle advocates and industry leaders from Colorado's Front Range attended a gathering with U.S. Representative Jared Polis (CO-2) yesterday. Pearl Izumi, a leading producer of sports apparel and footwear, hosted the event at the company's headquarters in Louisville, CO. IMBA World Summit Day 2: Cycling Legend Hans Rey Presents 'Flow Country' Trail Concept Cycling legend Hans Rey gave a keynote address for the delegates at the 2010 IMBA World Summit today. The presentation spanned his career as a champion trials rider and early forays into film projects. As he described his pioneering role in the sport, dozens of projected images revealed Rey's daring and skill. "I moved away from competitions and, to satisfy my wanderlust, I began searching for places to push the boundaries of riding, or to find them," said Rey. IMBA World Summit Day 1: SRAM's Mike Mercuri Delivers Keynote Address The first day of sessions at the 2010 IMBA World Summit kicked off with a keynote address delivered by SRAM's Mike Mercuri. As Vice President of Product and Marketing, Mercuri helps lead a company that has pushed the boundaries of bicycling technology since 1987. Today, SRAM employes 2500 workers in eight nations, with an annual revenue of $480 million. Mercuri also serves as board treasurer for Bikes Belong and guides SRAM's programs to advance bicycling opportunities for people around the world. IMBA's Mike Van Abel Participates in Shaping Obama's 'America’s Great Outdoors' Initiative IMBA Executive Director Mike Van Abel joined President Obama for the signing of the "America’s Great Outdoors" initiative at a conference in Washington, DC on April 16. Van Abel and about 200 other executives were invited to participate in discussions led by the secretaries of the Interior and Agriculture, the administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency, and the chair of the Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ). According to a presidential memorandum, the program aims to bring citizens from all over the United States together to, "... develop new partnerships and innovative programs to protect and restore our outdoors legacy."
