SUMMARY:Trail Maintenance Days at Eagle/Ada Bike Park
DESCRIPTION:Autumn means a few things- leaves changing\, cooler weather\, pumpkin spice everything… and trail work! \nAfter a long\, dry summer\, our trails need a little love. Please plan on repairing ruts\, clearing drainages\, and general patch work. Nothing major\, just keeping the trails in the Bike Park at their best! \nThe current plan is to have two work days\, Oct. 20 and 27\, with the days split into am/pm shifts. We’d like to give NICA teams the morning shifts to get our young racers a chance to learn trail maintenance\, then give the adults a shot in the afternoon. \nStart times will be 9:30 for the morning shift  and 1:00 for the afternoon. Both sessions will start with a 20-30 minute training on trail building techniques\, general safety\, and planning. \nWe’re looking for sponsors for a combined lunch for both shifts\, but definitely bring snacks and water just in case. \nWear long pants\, sturdy shoes/boots\, work gloves\, and a hat. We’ll provide tools\, know-how\, and some fun! \n[sign_up_sheet id=”49″]

SUMMARY:Boise City Council hearing RESCHEDULED
DESCRIPTION:IMPORTANT UPDATE: The Boise City Council has rescheduled this meeting! \nThe Boise City Council will be holding a hearing at their upcoming meeting\, October 16th. The meeting begins at 6:00 pm\, but the bike park is the last item on the agenda. We expect the hearing to begin around 7:00. \nWe would really like to have our members show up to support this project. If you’re unclear on what this project entails\, here’s the proposed map of the finished park. \nThis would be in place of the current dog park and archery range\, and would not extend into the foothills or take over anything else in the area. \nWhile this is a very small park\, it would offer year-round elements for riding. Most importantly\, however\, it offers a great place for anyone to improve their mountain bike skills. This is a great opportunity it introduce new riders of all ages into off road riding\, gives kids in the NICA program a place to train\, and gives all of us a spot to open the throttle without interfering with other trail users. \nWe urge you to attend\, but if you can’t\, let the city council know you support this project!

SUMMARY:North of Nightfall Screening
DESCRIPTION:Hidden among the glaciers on Axel Heiberg Island\, high in the Arctic Circle\, are mountain bike lines too incredible to ignore. Harsh temperatures\, volatile weather and nine-month winters mean the area is normally devoid of human life. But each summer\, this frozen landscape flourishes under endless daylight revealing a spectacular ecosystem. Join Darren Berrecloth\, Carson Storch\, Cam Zink and Tom van Steenbergen in North of Nightfall as they embark on an expedition to the top of the world to explore this relatively unknown land. Here they discover a rapidly changing environment steeped in history along with descents unlike anything anyone’s ridden to date. \nPurchase tickets HERE or at The Flicks box office \nCurrent SWIMBA members receive a 50% discount on tickets. Additionally if you’re a SWIMBA member that purchases tickets before August 10th you’ll also get a complimentary beer token! Click Here for details. \n

SUMMARY:Boise Goathead Fest 2018
DESCRIPTION:On August 3-4 2018\, Boise will launch the world’s first and only Goathead Festival! \nFor years\, the Goathead Monster has plagued the bicycle community. Rides have been ruined\, tires have been trashed\, and punctures have permeated our pedal powered lives. But now the monster’s had a change of heart. Instead of popping tires on August 3rd and 4th\, Boise’s most despised invasive specie will be giving back to Boise’s bicycle nonprofits and lending its hand in transforming Boise into the Bicycle Capital of America. \nRegister for the parade\, and let them know you support SWIMBA! \nParade Registration
