Kevin Pavlis Park
Kevin Pavlis Park is SWIMBA’s groundbreaking initiative to create Southwest Idaho’s first purpose-built adaptive mountain bike trail system. Located in Avimor, these trails are designed to meet adaptive mountain bike standards, ensuring that riders with various bikes can enjoy a world-class riding experience.
This park is named in honor of Kevin A. Pavlis, a dedicated member of the bicycle community and an adaptive athlete coach who passed away in 2009. Kevin Pavlis Park will serve as a memorial to Kevin’s legacy and his commitment to inclusivity in the biking world. Click here to learn more about Kevin.
Phase 1 includes approximately 5 miles of new trail, featuring a mix of beginner-friendly routes, intermediate loops, and skill-building features. This project is made possible through the vision and support of our community, generous donors, and dedicated volunteers.

About the Trails
Stairway to Kevin
Distance: 2.5 miles | Difficulty: Beginner -> Intermediate | Use: Two-way (Bikers & Hikers)
This versatile climbing trail is the backbone of the Pavlis Park system, connecting multiple loops and descents. It begins with a beginner-friendly section featuring gentle grades and wide turns, making it approachable for newer riders and hikers. Above the junction with the Beginner Downhill Trail, the terrain transitions to intermediate difficulty, with slightly steeper pitches and more varied terrain that rewards riders with expansive foothill views.
Open to two-way travel for both biking and hiking, this trail is designed for comfortable navigation.
Soft Serve
Distance: 1.0 miles | Difficulty: Beginner | Use: Downhill Mountain Biking Only
Smooth, flowing, and confidence-building, the Beginner Downhill offers a fun ride for new and experienced riders alike. The upper and lower sections can be ridden separately for shorter laps or linked together for a longer, more continuous descent. Gentle grades, wide corners, and a forgiving tread make it the perfect place to work on skills or simply enjoy a relaxed downhill run. Riders finishing the lower section can easily connect back to the climbing trail for another lap.
Milkshake Meadow
Distance: 1.1 miles | Difficulty: Intermediate | Use: Downhill Mountain Biking Only
The Intermediate Downhill blends flowy terrain with playful features for riders ready to take it up a notch. Divided into upper and lower segments, it can be ridden in parts or as a full top-to-bottom descent. The trail includes jumps without gaps, ensuring every feature is rollable while still offering opportunities to get airborne. After completing the lower intermediate section, riders can keep the momentum going by seamlessly transitioning into the lower portion of the Beginner Downhill for an extended flow session.
You Scream Ice Scream
Distance: 0.93 miles | Difficulty: Advanced | Use: Downhill Mountain Biking Only
This trail is an advanced downhill run built for those who live for airtime and speed. This demanding line features jumps and a narrower path cut into the hillsides. While the trail’s signature drop requires total commitment, a built-in ride-around lets progressing riders skip the feature and focus on enjoying the rest of this descent.
Designed to aMTB Standards
All trails in the Kevin Pavlis Park system are built to meet adaptive mountain bike (aMTB) standards, ensuring they are accessible, enjoyable, and safe for riders using adaptive bikes. This includes wider tread widths, gentle turns, firm surfaces, and thoughtful grading to accommodate three-wheeled and hand-powered cycles. By following these standards, we’ve created a trail network where riders of all abilities can share the same high-quality experience.
Acknowledgments
Kevin Pavlis Park would not be possible without the generosity, vision, and dedication of our community. We extend our heartfelt thanks to our initial funding partners — JA and Kathryn Albertson Family Foundation, Blue Cross of Idaho, REI, and our many private donors — whose early support made it possible to break ground on this first phase of the Pavlis Park Trail System.
We also thank Avimor for granting an easement to build these trails and for their ongoing partnership in creating a space that welcomes riders of all abilities. Special thanks to Titus Trails for designing and building the trails, and to Sidewayz Films for capturing the spirit of this project in the inspiring video featured here.
A big thank-you goes to SWIMBA members, whose continued support makes it possible for us to take on projects of this scale and impact. Finally, we recognize the tireless efforts of SWIMBA volunteers, whose hands-on work and passion for accessible adventure continue to shape the future of inclusive mountain biking in Southwest Idaho.
