SWIMBA Secures Easement from Avimor for Project Inclusive Adaptive Trail System

New trails at Avimor will bring inclusive outdoor experiences to the Treasure Valley community.

BOISE, ID — December 18, 2024 – The Southwest Idaho Mountain Biking Association (SWIMBA) is proud to announce a major milestone for Project Inclusive: the organization has secured an easement from Avimor to construct a groundbreaking adaptive trail system on their property. This partnership brings the
vision of accessible, purpose-built trails closer to reality, fostering inclusivity and enhancing outdoor recreation in the Treasure Valley.

The new trail system will form the foundation of the ACCESS FOR ALL Trail initiative, designed to adaptive mountain biking standards. The trails will cater to athletes of all abilities while creating opportunities for recreation, health, and community connection.

Project Inclusive is deeply personal to our community, as it honors the memory of Kevin Pavlis, a beloved member of the biking community and adaptive athlete coach who passed away in 2009. Kevin’s passion for inclusivity and outdoor adventure inspires our mission to create trails that welcome everyone, regardless of ability.

SWIMBA extends heartfelt gratitude to its initial funding partners, including private donors, the J.A. and Kathryn Albertson Foundation, Blue Cross of Idaho, and REI, whose generosity has made this milestone possible. Their support is driving the creation of these purpose-built trails, ensuring that individuals of varying abilities, including mountain bikers using adaptive bikes, can enjoy the joy of outdoor adventure.

“SWIMBA is grateful to Avimor for their generosity in granting this easement, allowing us to build trails that will benefit the entire community,” said Sam Blaine, SWIMBA Vice President. “This easement is a crucial step forward in making adaptive trails a reality.”

Phase 1 of the trail system will include approximately five miles of trails with plans for future expansions and amenities.

SWIMBA invites the community to join the effort by supporting Project Inclusive through donations and spreading the word. To learn more about how you can help or to stay updated, visit swimba.org.
