SWIMBA awarded cash grant from REI

REI announced today that SWIMBA has been awarded a $5000.00 cash
grant.  "Thank you for all of the great work you are doing in the Treasure
Valley community," stated Sylvia Cooper, REI Outreach Specialist.

SWIMBA plans on using the grant to purchase a trailer for the SWIMBA trail
team to use for storing tools and equipment.

Watchman Trail

The latest addition to the Ridge to Rivers system, The Watchman Trail opened Fall 2008. It is a non-motorized multi-use trail. The trail connects Trail 6 with Five Mile Gulch. Starting at Trail 6 makes for a mostly down hill run (but a lung-buster to get to the trail's starting point) while starting at Five Mile makes for the opposite. However, either way the grades are rolling and mellow, especially for the upper foothills. SWIMBA (the Southwest Idaho Mountain Biking Association) contributed funds for this trail.

Trail Conditions Report

General Update Wednesday 05/01/2010:

Currently conditions are great on most of the Foothills trails. There are the usual spring puddles, deep stream crossings, and occasional snow like the top of Hard Guy.

Keep in mind also that sheep are moving across the foothills this time of year, so pay attention for angry canines.

This time of year the trails get very populated, so please be kind to other trail users, have patience, and ride with control.

Scott's Trail - Excellent condition

Corrals -  Excellent condition

Trail 5 - Excellent condition, with a few loose sections

Fat Tire Traverse - Excellent condition, with a few small water crossings

Hard Guy - Excellent condition up to the trees, then there are three sections of snow covered trail, and some moisture, creek crossings are deep. Ridge Road is deep with snow

8th Street Extension - Excellent condition

Crestline - Excellent condition

Sidewinder - Excellent condition

We will continue to bring you updates on this page throughout the season. If you encounter a trail condition or issue that you would like noted on this page, please email us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

2008 Annual Meeting / Board Member Elections

SWIMBA held it's annual membership meeting on Wednesday June 18th at Smokey Mountain Pizza on Parkcenter.

We had a truly excellent slate of candidates running for board positions this year. I was excited about knowing that no matter how it turned out we would have a truly talented board to work with. I'm pleased to announce that Gary Dinoso, Mike Edwards, Terry Floyd and Lisa Hawkes were all elected to the board. The remainder of the 9 that were elected this year include; David Beck, Tom Foote, Margie Rosenberg, Dirk Vandervoort and myself (David Thomas) who were all re-elected to the board.
